The Spring concert on 17th May being the first public performance of 2019 by OSMSB got off to a good start with the march Death or Glory followed by a wide variety of music played to an appreciative audience. The first half of the programme concluded with an impressive performance of the Light Cavalry. Solo spots were taken in each half by Malcolm Lee on Soprano who played ‘La Califfa’ and John Stuckey on Trombone playing ‘Lazy Bones Blues’. In between we were treated to a wonderful performance by the Brass Class lead by the amazing Gail Denning. The fact that almost every chair earlier occupied by the main band was taken up by the learners for their performance pays tribute to the hard work and dedication by Gail and her helpers from the main band. No wonder the 4 new members introduced to the audience together with the rest of the Brass Class were given a lengthy and well deserved applause at the end. The second half of the concert kicked off with Sing, Sing, Sing, ending with MacArthur Park and then Rock Around the Croc as an encore. Upwards and onwards to the next engagement of what looks like another busy year for OSMSB. Photos from the concert are in the website gallery.
